While checking the Examples for serial communication between Processing and Wiring I find the wiring output example works but the input does not.  Apparently the program running on the Wiring board stops when Processing starts the transfer.

hi, please check this example: http://wiring.org.co/learning/libraries/serialreadprocessing.html
in the Processing code section, it does a onetime delay in the draw before start receiving. When processing opens the serial port it resets the Wiring board, if processing starts sending data immediately, the Wiring board might interpret this data as a new program, so the delay gives time for the Wiring program to start accordingly. Please let me know if this works for you.

Thanks, the delay makes the transfer work.  I guess I will have to use this delay in any programs involving inputs in the future.

I'll try to reduce to zero the bootloader wait time after running some tests to see if things work properly, it is tricky with some OS's and particular configurations people have in their computers, for example right now for 0026 the auto-reset feature when uploading is not working properly on Windows 7, 0027 will be addressing that issue.
