I much prefer the Wiring IDE to the Arduino version.  In my newest project I required more analog inputs so I bought an Arduino Mega.  Can I use the latest Wiring 26 or higher to program this board?

Many thanks.

My guess is it won't work, given the fact that Wiring uses an ATmega128 chip and the arduino mega uses a ATmega1280 chip.

Thanks for the reply.  Starting with Wiring 026 there is now support for the 1281, the Mega has a 1280.  I am not sure of the minor differences, perhaps just the IO counts?

The Wiring IDE has functions like Split, big plus for me!

hi Andy, the new IDE supports for atmega1281 and atmega2561, you're right regarding the pins issue etc, it is not a big problem to extend it support the atmega1280 chip, since registers and everything else are named the same.
