Hello

I am trying to connect 4 12V stepper motors as in the example diagram here:

http://www.wiring.org.co/learning/examples/stepper.html

My diagram results in (with an additional LED matrix):

... (right-click > view image)

This setup works fine when powered via the USBAdapter (5V) but the motors obviously don't have enough power. When I use the external power, it works if I use 2 or less motors. When I connect the third motor it just won't start (WiringMini will reboot itself over and over again). I can connect motors A and B or C and D or A and D (or any other 2-motor permutation for that matter) but any time I connect the third one it stops working. I used two different WiringMini cards with the same result.

One thing to note is that the LM78M05 in WiringMini heats up really hot when in this setup.

Any help on this issue will be greatly appreciated!

Hi

As suggested by barragán, turns out it was the AC adapter which was not providing enough power (two of them). I put a 12V 1000mA adapter and it worked fine. I also put a LM7805 regulator so the internal one won't be heating up so much.
