hello,
i'm using one of the newest model macbook pro's with wiring 18;
with the board connected, in the Wiring app i don't see the USB options under Tools>Serial Port;

with the same board and same version of the app on an older macbook pro, things work fine.

has anyone come across this?

Please do step 1 here: http://wiring.org.co/hardware/software_setup.html
then try again to launch Wiring and test the port.

hrm, finally found time to fire up my wiring boards and I too am having issues with OSX and the Serial Port. I have installed the driver on both my Mac Pro (and I installed it on a clean copy of Leopard just to check.) I'll confirm whether or not the effect is similar in Linux after I grab something to eat.

Same symptoms though. I follow step 1 and the result is nada. I'll sift the logs too, just wanted to post in that I was having a similar experience.

did you restart your computer after installing the drivers?
that´s very odd. I have the same system as you with a macbook, and things went fine. Are you sure you installed the VCP intel drivers?
h.

ok I found a similar case, very odd, download the macosx_setup_10.5.command file from here: http://wiring.uniandes.edu.co/source/tags/wiring-0015/wiring/build/macosx/dist/
then run the command file from your desktop, answer Yes and reboot.
I´ll verify why this is happending. Please try and see iof it works for you.
