Hey everyone!

About a year ago I began work on a self-balancing robot:
http://wiring.org.co/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1202277622/17#17

After a month of work I gave up (lack of funding and time), but in December I got back to working on it. Finally I have completed a beta release for what I call the Segwii.

The Segwii is an open source software and hardware, self-balancing robot. The bot also is controlled by a wiimote via processing using bluetooth.

To find out more go to my website:
http://www.segwii.com

I encourage anyone to read up on the code and check out the hardware, make their own, and help out!  Lots to learn, and some cool videos!  Smiley

These are pictures I took with a friend of mine

I just got a professional photographer to take some snapshots for me, and I can have them up in a few days.

Hey,

I was just looking at your segwii, and thought of something.
I saw you mounted your gyroscoop low, with the lego motors.
The higher you mount it, the more sensitive it will be(I don't know if that's is something you want, but the more sensitive, the better you could balance?)
And the motor's could interefere with your gyro.

Just wanted to know if you thought about it.

Hmm, now that you mention it, that actually makes sense... I knew there would be noise and interference from the motor, but your idea of put the gyro higher up does make sense. I just thought that the gyro would need to be as close to the axis of rotation, when really it doesn't. I'll test this, if it works out, the I will design my Mach 4 of the segwii to have the IMU on top.

good luck with it Tongue

next step:
Add distance sensor's and a compass.
And add full H bridge to drive the motor's apart from each other.

And let it drive around  Tongue

I'm going to add a Ping sensor in the next revision for sure. Just an update, I redid the wiring for the h-bridge and I can control both motors individually. So that's taken care of.

You know, things really haven't worked out with the photographer. Go ahead and use the picture links posted above.

would be cool if you could adjust the angle to the ground and let it drive/balance 45 degrees with the earth Tongue

I think 15 degreesish is the physical tolerance based on the hardware I have. that would be cool though.
