Hello,

I'm trying to pick what Analog to Digital Converter to buy. I want 12-bit resolution (hence why I am not using the built in one) and I want to interface this with the digital inputs. I can't use the RX/TX ports because they are being used up. Now the IC's I found have this complex way of working and I want to learn how they work. I am guessing this is going to be harder than it looks, I don't know what these address are or what a register is, so help there would be nice. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should use? How I should interface? What code to use?

I want to try to interface with this: http://www.parallax.com/Store/Components/IntegratedCircuits/InterfacingChips/tabid/613/CategoryID/78/List/0/SortField/0/Level/a/ProductID/232/Default.aspx

It's boiled down to interfacing or writing code for the pins CS (chip select), Clock, Data In , and Data Out. I found PDF's of other Analog to Digital Converters:
