I received a message when I tried to upload the led_blinks file to the board.

avrdude: ser_open(): can't open device "com11": The system cannot find the file
specified.

I'm pretty sure com11 is the port.

I have a Windows XP and just bought the wiring board a few days ago.  The installation of Wiring went well. The CDM.exe never really displayed a wizard when it was being installed.  A console appeared and it says "32 bit OS detected....installing driver....."

I tried resetting the board but it didn't change anything.

I did go through steps 3 and 4.

If it helps: the only connection I have to the board is through the USB port.

Do you think maybe there's a problem with the installation?

The Rx and Tx LEDs are not lit up.

-is your jumper set correctly?
-i mean, when in a single USB port, did you try to adjust the settings for the comport? like tried all the displayed comports?

Got wiring normal, not the mini?

are you running many usb devices? try use as less as possible?

did you instal the latest winevr??(sometimes it helps,)?

I had the same set of problems and finally found a solution so I thought I'd post it up here in case someone else is in need of...

It appears that even though I updated to the new FTDI drivers for some reason there was still a conflict with com ports that were created and defined with prior versions of the driver.  I finally found a utility called ftclean on FTDIs site that removes all of the defined com ports and all of the older drivers.  After running FTClean you can then reinstall the latest drivers and all seems to be well.

The FTClean utility is at: http://www.ftdichip.com/Resources/Utilities.htm - I found this tip on sparkfun's web site.
