Saw a video on Youtube the other day, a guy had made a vizualization plugin for winamp to work with the wiring board, i would like to make one, but i'm hoping someone know where to get the plugin. I think you need to program the plugin in C or C++, but i havent used those languages before.

hi, there are many ways of doing something like this, first getting the sound data from winamp (I guess the plug-in does it), then sending the data from winamp to the Wiring I/O board using the USB (via serial, perhaps the plugin includes opening the serial and sending the data), the use the data received by the wiring board to produce a visualization on the LED matrix which is illustrated here: http://wiring.org.co/learning/examples/hello_matrix.html
An interesting way for you to start might be using Processing, add a sound library to it, open an MP3 file and visualize the data on the screen, I think you can find an example that does that part. Then hack the example and use the Processing Serial library to send the data to the Wiring I/O board and produce the visualization. I'll check for a processign example for you to look at. I hope this notes might give you a hint for starting your experiments. Will get back.

Thanks for the tip. Think i will try to make one of those led cubes too. Got around 300 led's laying around, but i suspect it's going to be a hell of wires and shift registers. (6x6x6=216 leds and 27 8-bit shift registers).

edit:
My bad, wount be that many outputs

Take a look at this thing. I thought of making a 6,6,6 led cube.
should work. Enough I/O ports.
And you can control each LED seperatly

Yes, i know how to make one (actually made a 4x4x4 few mins ago, missing 4 npn transistors thou). but what i was looking for was a winamp vizualization plugin for a 2D led matrix. Looks like i have to learn c++  Smiley
