When I start wiring I get multiple occurances of this error line:

check_group_uucp(): error testing lock file creation Error details:Permission deniedcheck_lock_status: No permission to create lock file.
please see: How can I use Lock Files with rxtx? in INSTALL

There doesn't seem to be an INSTALL file in the wiring binary distribution.

This seems to be a user permisions problem because I don't get the errors
when I run wiring as root. However the IDE seems to run REAL slow when
run by root.

I don't know if it's related or not but using Serial.println() doesn't seem to
produce anything in wiring's Serial Monitor.

Thanks for any help,
Drew Rogge

Thanks for the reply Hernando. I'm sorry I didn't mention that I'm running on a linux Fedora Core 6
box.

The problem ended up being in rxtx whose distribution contains an INSTALL file. A copy of the file
can be found here:

http://rxtx.qbang.org/wiki/index.php/Installation

Seem section 3.18:

http://rxtx.qbang.org/wiki/index.php/Installation#How_can_I_use_Lock_Files_with_rxtx.3F

This pretty much explains what I needed to do to fix the problem. However it's worth mentioning that\
I also needed to logout and back in before everything worked.

Thanks for all the help.
