Rather basic, but painful problem:
I've had wiring working on a desktop but now on a laptop it won't go. (PC, windows XP, wiring 0008 installed). I've downloaded the drivers (v. 2.00 for Win.) and unpacked in a directory. board is USB-connected, green LED is on and amber blinking. the windows wizard is looking for the drivers but cannot find it despite my pointing to the correct folder.

thanks so much in advance...

hey!! try this, unplug the board, get the executable version of the drivers here:
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/Win2000/CDM_Setup.exe download, launch install, then plug the board, it should be fine. That link I sent is located in the Windows XP section (2nd row) of the http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm see right column under "comments" (just to let you know where it comes from)

let me know.
