I am a total newbie so this question may be totally silly, however, I'd love to be able to do this. I got an AVR Butterfly board from a friend that is trying to get me started on micros: specs here: http://www.atmel.com/dyn/products/tools_card.asp?family_id=607&family_name=AVR+8%2DBit+RISC+&tool_id=3146

On the other hand I keep reading about Wiring and I think it's awesome! Is there any way I can use Wiring on my AVR Butterfly board? Thanks for bearing with me.

Probably not.
The Mega 128 on the Wiring board has 128 Kbytes of FLASH and 4K bytes of SRAM
The Mega 169 on the Butterfly has 16 Kbytes of FLASH and 1 Kbyte of SRAM.

Alan is right, Wiring will run on any atmega128 microcontroller board.
